We rolled up to the House of Blues in San Diego about an hour before doors opened Saturday night, and the line to get in was already wrapped around the block. Which meant that if you didn’t already have a ticket to the Tori Kelly "Purple Skies" Tour with Maisy Kay, you were out of luck! Just before the excited fans filed into the sold-out main room, you could hear the ecstatic screams from those at the meet and greet with Tori. Once inside, many rushed to the merch tables in the back, while others staked their claim right up against the barricade, securing prime spots for the show.

Kicking things off was Maisy Kay, a rising star from London now based in LA, signed to BMG. Her pop/R&B/dance sound had the crowd swaying side to side. Maisy's vocals were clean and clear, even through the runs that can sometimes muddle live performances—not overdone, which was a refreshing change. The stage production was modest—no big lights or flashy dancers—but she held everyone’s attention as she belted out her setlist. The cheers at the end made it clear she didn’t need any extra flair, and she’s definitely on her way to big things! Her latest EP, Wanderlust: The Dawn, is out now, so check it out!

It was now time for the girl from the I.E. (that’s Inland Empire for those not in the know), Tori Kelly, to grace the stage...

As Tori approached the mic, the energy shot up like a rocket! Fans erupted into applause, eagerly awaiting the performance we’d all come for. From the first note, her stunning vocals and genuine connection had everyone hooked. The setlist was a mix of soulful ballads, upbeat pop hits, and those awe-inspiring vocal runs (which were also very clear and concise) that left the crowd buzzing. It was a night no one would forget.

The intimate venue was packed, with anticipation hanging thick in the air. Tori’s voice filled the room as she dove into tracks from her latest album, Tori. Songs like “thing u do” and “missin u” energized the crowd, while her older hits had fans singing every lyric, creating a magical vibe.

The stage production matched Tori’s vocals perfectly, with vibrant lights and visuals that complemented each song's mood. She transitioned seamlessly between soulful moments and high-energy tracks, her dance moves keeping the crowd engaged. You could tell she felt right at home in Southern California, making this show even more special.
